PRETENDING TO BE RELIGIOUS – IS NOT HOW YOU FIND
– Guru Nanak Dev ji
When rain season comes (around August) we see dark clouds, pleasant winds which draws out beautiful birds like peacocks to sing and dance. Same way the nature created by God is very attractive and it has drawn me – human soul – towards you in love. This is one of your physical forms, and I am in love because it reminds me of you.
All humans are considered feminine (our soul) compared to God, who is soul’s husband. Guruji gives an example of a husband and wife. The wife wears makeup, nice clothes and lots of fancy bracelets on her arms to look like for a husband. What if her husband loves others? Everything is useless. The wife should smash those bracelets, smash her arms because neither the makeup artist nor the bracelets could help her (to keep the husband). Those arms should burn which failed to hug/keep the husband. In a similar way, the wife soul spends whole life pretending to love Husband God via religious activities and show of religion. These acts of religion are useless if we are drawn towards others, because God can’t be achieved by mere acts of religion – God can only be met internally.
Some people are truly connected to God but lots are only engaged in a fake religious acts and pretending. I am (the soul) is dying inside because I try to connect to God via fake acts. Everyone pities me, even birds do. I am sad because I am separated from my husband God. I can only dream of you. I can’t go to you, and I can’t send someone to you who can tell you (God) how I feel. I beg sleep to come so that I can see you (in my dream).
I wish to meet a Gurmukh (people who do what Guru says) who would talk about you. I would give anything for that – even cut off my head to make a seat as an offering – meaning give them my selfless service. When the husband God gets separated, the only way to get him back is to give our self (ego of all kind) and give our life to him.
