GURU NANAK DEV JI IS SO AWESOME THAT he uses the analogy of our professions (Farmer, Shop owner, Business person and Job worker) to explain connection to God. Most people earn their living by Farming, running a shop, business or working a job, so Guruji uses these examples to teach us.

FARMING ANALOGY:We should be hard-workers like a Farmer, think of good character life as farming, Naam-Simran is hard-work which is like Water for our Crop, and our body is the Farm. Our Crop should be Naam-Simran and being content is the plough that protects our crop seeds from being eaten by birds (5 evils). When we farm this way our farm (body and mind) gets blessed with (unconditional) Love for all and we get blessed with Naam-Simran. When we die, we don’t take anything with us and very few understand this concept because everybody is under the spell of Maya. We should treat every breath as earning, Naam should be like product inventory of your shop. Make your mind a like a bowl that we must fill with God’s name. Connect with other businessmen (Sangat) on same path (of God) and EARN connection with God.

BUSINESS ANALOGY:My brother, become a business-person of God’s name and listen to the message of religious books. Consider high-character as your horse (or Truck) to load your items of trade (business men who go from town to town selling product), make good habits as spending money during travel. Don’t Procrastinate. With this trade you will reach the land of God and enjoy eternal peace. JOB ANALOGY: In your job (of God) be alert, embed name of God in your heart (like Job rules) – this is true Sewa of God. Stay away from distractions (of 5 evils) and work hard at your job (Naam-Simran). This hard work will get you respect, and God will bless you.
