THERE IS NO POINT IN READING RELIGIOUS BOOKS!
– Bhagat Kabir Ji
Bhagat Kabir ji: hey ignorant person, reading holy books (Gurbani) is of no use if it doesn’t lead to connection with God. Hey fool, What’s the point of getting stuck in destructive thoughts/desires when you have forgotten God and don’t do Naam-Simran. Just like a lamp is needed in dark, religious (holy) book are made to light up the knowledge-Lamp in our mind to enable us to connect to God. Once that connection to God is made, this lamp (of knowledge) stays lit and we become enlightened.
I have connected to God and I have dissolved in him (Imagine how a drop of water dissolves in a glass of water). This world is focused on ritualistic things like “reading” of books, going to pilgrimages, focus on doing things that make us look good in the eyes of others, etc. On the other hand, the one who is immersed in Naam-Simran doesn’t need to “show” others what he/she is doing to connect to God.
Conclusion: If we are not into God (deep desire to connect with him), then reading Holy books is useless and reading Gurbani becomes an act of show-off to appear great in the eyes of others.
Note: This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t read Gurbani, but we should apply Gurbani to ourselves and connect with God.
