WHY SHOULD WE BECOME SPIRITUAL
– Guru Amardas ji

The root purpose of Spiritual life is to get rid of our desires (that stem from 5 Evils) by following Gurus’ lesson to connect to God via Naam-Simran. In Guru’s company we are able to stay connected with God and safe from evil forces that distract us.

SunMukh is someone who does what Guru (Guru’s SunMukh) has taught us. Naam-Simran is a sign of higher state (just as some people believe in Caste-System, in Gurbani, the one who is Guru’s SunMikh belongs to high caste/class/status), and God resides in our body (although God is within us, but when we listen to Guru then God is pleased with us and shows us signs of his presence in various ways, and he protects us and our honour).

We can only become Guru’s SunMukh if God blesses us with capability to do so. In Guru’s company, we should protect Gurbani within us from getting robbed (like we protect our homes or our money). Guru’s SunMukh gets his whole family blessed too (God gives this as an extra bonus).
